Dementia is the term used to describe the symptoms of a large group of illnesses which cause a progressive decline in a person’s functioning. It is a broad term used to describe a loss of memory, intellect, rationality, social skills and physical functioning. Dementia is one of the fastest growing conditions in Australia, with incidence expected to rise steadily in coming years. It is the second leading cause of death in Australia.

General practitioners, practice nurses, allied health professionals and community pharmacists play a crucial role in assisting their patients to find specialised care, support, counseling and information.
